It’s been more than six months that the Viennese crowd gathered at a BarCamp – and the next BarCamp is coming up on August 22, 23! It’s going to take place on beautiful Lake Traunsee, but I believe that a majority of the attendees will hail from ViennaVienna is the capital of the Republic of Austria and one of the nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria's primary city, with a population of about 1.7 million (2.4 million within the metropolitan area, more than 25% of Austria's population), and is by far the largest city in Austria, as well .... Let’s all go to BarCamp Traunsee!

The focus of the BarCamp is going to be on social media, more specifically on a review of existing and competing social platforms and services. Yet the scope can and will probably be expanded – I still want to do a digital storytelling presentation, as I understand this as a form of a social medium without the electronic network. One of the probably most coveted session is going to be Twitter secrets – as far as I can see, a majority of the people who have already signed up are Twitterati, yet there are so many Twitter questions yet to be uncovered!

Sponsors are an important ingredient of BarCamps – without sponsors, those individuals who put in the most work and effort in organizing a BarCamp would also be left with the unpaid bills. Freewave has already agreed to provide the wireless internet connection, Martin Bredl from Telekom Austria has agreed to cover the costs for the (indispensable!) BarCamp t-shirts and Andreas BlumauerAndreas Blumauer studied Computer Sciences and Business Administration and started his career as a software developer for financial services. In 1998 he co-founded punkt.net Services, a specialised software company, which has developed several national and international knowledge platforms. He ..., the boss of our lil’ ole company over here, is going to pitch in for a coffee and cake buffet. I can’t wait for the Barcamp to begin!
