we are too developing a wiki-like tool to create web of documents, linking data, totally identify with this.
what is really exciting about the semantic web - does gets clobbered in the RDF, RSS, SPARQL - on the surface, gets simplified to API-this and API-that

make data mashup of APIs more accessible to the commons, more "play"-able if you must, and this stack working semi-transparently underneath
(in the case of our tool, for e-micro-commerce)

Thanks for your props! Maybe Linked Data is the concept that is going to promote the diffusion of the Semantic Web? Yes, it would be wise if the semantic web took some of the lessons of business, e.g. regarding diffusion - I guess that is going to happen only if some business savvy people that are also semweb savvy enter the stage.

In other words: Mr Boutin, please advise:-)

The link doesn't seem to work properly, but it's the WP page on the market diffusion theory. Include the last part _(business) in the link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffusion_(business)

Wouldn't a semantic web have picked that up?

Hi Jana, I can't agree more with your comment on "Semantic Web people juggling acronyms and technical lingo, in particular names and abbreviations from the Semantic Web Stack - understandably so, as URIs, XML and RDF form the very foundation, on the technological side" and "not everyone is able to guess without context that the term URI refers to the same kind of thing as URL. And when you say RDF, people are surprisingly often inclined to think you are talking about “RFID” (Radio Frequency Identification)"

Very, very true, and characteristic of any starting technology. This said it's a bit like the web at the beginning, remember? HTML (not forgetting all the other protocoles... now mostly relegated to antiques...), CSS, PHP (which at first I thought might relate to PGP...),.

Things will get better as more and more folks get interested in it, and "translators" from the early majority (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diffusion_(business) ) start to kick in and explain what this is in plain language.

In my opinion, the semantic web is about to change hands and take a new, simpler life. Patience.
