It may be worth taking at look at True Knowledge (www.trueknowledge.com) where we have been building something similar to Prof Lieberman's, although perhaps more focussed on being able to answer any question that might be posed using our knowledge representation.

We are building our understanding of common sense (see for example teaching a computer about love or the fact that True Knowledge itself has achieved a tiny measure of self-awareness!) [http://blog.trueknowledge.com/2008/08/self-awareness.html]

Some of the sorts of things we've been able to achieve include sensible answers to questions across any domain. (Currently about 100m+ facts known to us).
Who was US president when barack obama was a teenager?
Who was Prime Minister when john lennon was shot?
is a cocktail umbrella a kind of umbrella?
Are J Lo and Madonna married? (Everyone wants to know!)

It is currently in closed beta, but if any of your readers want an invite, please email me azeem dot azhar at trueknowledge.com (I am just the marketing guy so bamboozling science questions can go elsewhere).
